MMT Update 7/7/2008
Dr. McCauley ...
Published: 7/7/2008
Our final week of ministry began with our hosts in a national church in Oranienburg, an east German city near Berlin. We enjoyed our fellowship and work with these believers who helped keep the light of the Gospel burning in their region during the dark days of Communism. Since the Wall separating east and west Germany fell in 1989, these dear Christians have been able to expand their ministry in many ways. Earlier this summer the church held a tent revival and saw many unbelievers came to Christ. It was a joy to see some of these new converts as well as a good number of unbelievers in our Oranienburg service.

We are thankful for the opportunities the team has had to minister in Italy and Germany since our last report. We spent four days with missionary pastor Timothy Drylie in the region of Vicenza. We held one meeting in the American military church he pastors. Some Italian people came, and many Africans from Ghana were there. We are rejoicing that a young American soldier who has just completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan accepted Christ as his Saviour following this service.

Thanks for your prayers last week as the team ministered in Slovakia, Austria and Italy.
The Lord gave us safety in travel and several very unusual opportunities to give out the Gospel in these countries. We also enjoyed our fellowship with believers all along the way.

After leaving the Dobel conference center last Monday, we spent three days with members of the church in Tubingen. We’ve worked with this assembly since 1991. Planted by GFA missionaries Jurgen and Joanie Matthia, it now stands alone as a national church.

We’ve had another week filled with opportunities to present the Gospel to unbelievers and to fellowship with German believers. Last weekend in Neuvied we presented four concerts featuring evangelistic messages. The Lord’s house was full for all of these services. The largest crowd—more than 1000 people—came on Sunday morning. We were richly blessed by these and other events, including a day trip to Koln, that allowed us to spend time with young people from this large assembly. Our experiences with host families also brought great joy to our hearts.

We began the third week of our ministry in and around Waldsassen, Germany, where we have worked with national church planter Thomas Bernreuter for several years. The church he pastors began three summers ago, and the Lord is blessing this small group of believers. As usual, we held a service arranged by Thomas at the Mutter Teresa nursing home at Mitterteich. Then in the evening Thomas once again secured the large meeting hall in a Waldsassen shopping mall for an evangelistic service. The Lord really blessed the church’s planning and advertising efforts and brought out a good crowd that included many unbelievers as well as several youth groups from the region. A number of productive conversations ensued. Please pray with us that soon the seeds planted in Waldsassen will produce fruit.

After spending our first week on the field in Switzerland, we traveled to Germany on May 15. We began our ministry there with a concert and salvation testimony in a historic Rothenburg ob der Tauber church that attracts many tourists. This venue gave team members opportunities to have meaningful conversations about the Gospel with people from many different regions and cultures.

This afternoon marks the close of a seven-service Bible Conference we began in Ebnat-Kappel, Switzerland, last Friday. The Lord has blessed the services in numbers and in substance. Believers have come from far and wide, and many have brought with them guests who need to be reached with the Gospel. Dr. Kielmeyer and Tim Joiner brought a series of sound, challenging messages on the theme of the work of the Holy Spirit. Our friends here have responded very warmly to the team's music and the messages from the Word.
