MMT Update 7/30/2009
Dr. McCauley ... Published: 7/30/2009

Lausanne, Switzerland
July 30, 2009

Dear Friends:

Tomorrow we return to the States from Geneva, having completed almost ten weeks of ministry in Europe. Team members worked hard last night to finish up the packing so they could go to Geneva today to see one of the city's most famous landmarks, the Reformation Monument, as well as other sites of interest to students of church history.

We traveled from Germany into Switzerland on Monday. Here we have spent our last few days together giving testimonies to the Lord's work in our own hearts this summer. One theme that stood out as the students spoke was God's love—that love which made our salvation possible, which has enabled us to live and work together effectively as team members in the ministry, and which compels us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Team members also spoke of the privilege we've had to minister with outstanding churches and mission works who are intent upon getting the Gospel message out to a lost and dying world.

Other team members told us that the ministry this summer has shown them the worldwide nature of God's work. He is moving upon hearts all over the world, and He allows us to be laborers in His vineyard. What a glorious message of love, hope, and forgiveness we bear!

Related to the subject of God's love, several students expressed a desire to trust Him more. One song we heard at many of our concerts this summer was “'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.” The final sentiment of this piece is the prayer of our hearts as we come to the end of the 2009 ministry: “O, for grace to trust Him more.”

When we look back over the summer, we must especially praise the Lord for the very large numbers of unbelievers who came to our evangelistic concerts. In many cases more unsaved people than church members attended our services, especially in neutral venues like concert halls, but unbelievers also came out in large numbers to the churches. Of course, we do not know how the follow-up process with these people will progress or what their long-term response to the Gospel will be. But we're thankful that thousands of them heard of God's great love and His provision to save lost souls.

In a youth meeting at Neuvied, Germany, on July 17, a young woman named Stephanie gave a testimony about the Lord's work in her heart after one of our concerts in 2006. She said that she could see the love and joy we as team members had in taking the Gospel abroad. She wanted to have the same love in her heart so that she could share it with others. She said, “That night I gave my heart to the Lord. I was able to know His love myself and then to share it with others. I came to know His love through the team's reaching out to me in love.” We praise the Lord for this testimony.

On July 18 to 20, we ministered in Heidelberg with the Bill Davis and Reinhardt Mutzke families at their Christian school as well as their church. It was a blessing to see two MMT “grads” in the work there, Annette Reisch Mutzke and Juanita Hall. Just one week after the team left, the church at Heidelberg had the great joy of baptizing six new believers, including four from the youth group, a young woman from China, and a middle-aged woman who was saved out of Roman Catholicism. Obviously such reports are very encouraging to the team since we had been praying specifically for some of these people.

We also felt the Lord's hand of blessing during our short stay in France. Many unbelievers came out to both meetings. One young woman has told us that an unsaved friend from her place of employment who attended the service at her church in St. Denis received our message, music, and literature very positively. Please pray with us that this young man will come to Christ.

Our last two services were in Spaichingen, Germany, with Pastor Pleiderer and his church members, who always host us very well and give us wonderful ministry opportunities. On Saturday we held an evangelistic concert in a village several kilometers away where there is no Protestant church. The hall was full, and some unbelievers who were there came out again on Sunday morning to our service at the Spaichingen church.
We praise the Lord for allowing us to sow this seed.

Thank you for your prayers and support throughout the summer. Please keep the 2009 team members in your prayers as they return to their homes with their hearts full of the blessings of the summer. We would be delighted to see many of them eventually return to the needy harvest fields of Europe. Also please pray for the McCauleys as we begin the process of putting together a new team for 2010.

Sincerely,

Janie McCauley
