Dear Friends:
We are holding testimony meetings and packing this week, preparatory to returning to the States on July 27. Geographically we have come full circle, ending where we began on May 24. Spiritually we believe that each of us has forged new paths in our relationship to the Lord this summer.
From July 10 to 23, the Lord gave us a blessed ministry in Germany. We were guests of national churches in five cities. We also held a weekend Bible conference and concerts at Haus Felsengrund, a Christian vacation center in the Black Forest.
Every church we worked with offered unique opportunities for us to minister and learn. In Metzingen we enjoyed three days of fellowship with a vibrant youth group that numbers around 100 members. In Stuttgart we heard the testimonies of many hosts who have been Christians for only a few years. Their church is very active in public and personal evangelization. In Tubingen we enjoyed fellowship with families in a church that was planted by an American missionary almost 40 years ago. Unbelievers in this university city are still being won to Christ.
The church at Untergruppenbach/Flein includes many families who came to Germany from the Soviet Union 15 to 20 years ago. Their testimonies to God’s grace in their lives are unforgettable. While these faithful believers enjoy religious freedom and a degree of prosperity in the West that their forebears never knew, they have continued to engage in evangelizing and providing special help for churches in eastern Europe as well as for missions worldwide.
The Spaichingen church always gives the team a royal welcome and fills the prayer house for our meetings with believers and unbelievers alike. This year our preachers presented a weekend conference there on the Second Coming.
Several host pastors have admonished the 2007 team to “abide in Christ” and to “bring forth much fruit.” We have often referred in our meetings to John 15:4: “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.” We’re thankful for the Lord’s enabling us as individuals and as a team to abide under the “umbrella” of His spiritual and physical protection. We’re also thankful for the amazing opportunities we have had to sow and water the seed of the Gospel.
Some fruit has already been harvested. Please pray with us that many more unbelievers who have heard or read the Gospel through our ministry this summer will in time come to Christ. Also pray that the Lord will continue the work that he has begun and nourished in each of our own hearts.
Sincerely in Christ,
William and Janie McCauley
