MMT Update 6/25/2008
Dr. McCauley ... Published: 6/25/2008

June 24, 2008

Dear Friends,

Thanks for your prayers last week as the team ministered in Slovakia, Austria and Italy.
The Lord gave us safety in travel and several very unusual opportunities to give out the Gospel in these countries. We also enjoyed our fellowship with believers all along the way.

We began the week at a mission house in Sus. It is operated by our friends from a Swiss mission who desire to win Slovakian people to the Lord and disciple them. Besides learning about the ministry philosophy of this mission, we held services in Stara Tura and Bratislava. It had been several years since we met with the assembly in Bratislava. We were refreshed and encouraged by these believers, whose church building was formerly the chapel at a large city cemetery. Members are faithfully engaged in evangelizing the lost and training believers in godliness and spiritual maturity.

Our next hosts were Dr. Kai and Missy Soltau in Vienna. An interpreter and preacher for MMT for several summers, Kai now pastors an Austrian national church. We had a good crowd for Wednesday night’s concert. It was also a joy to visit with Kai and Missy and other believers who opened their homes to us.

After arriving in Italy on Thursday, we had our first Italian service at Pastor Rob Krause’s church in Fontanafredda. Then we moved to the vicinity of Venice for a full weekend of services, coordinated by Frank King of Biblical Ministries Worldwide. We held two services in Frank’s church in Mirano. This is a mature assembly that Frank has worked with for many years.

Our Sunday evening service was with a Filipino congregation that meets in a room above a shoemaker’s shop in the center of Venice. It was a joy for the team to interact with these believers and help them reach out with the Gospel to those who came to the concert.

One of the highlights of the week was the service we held for Gypsies on Friday night.
Many years ago the team held an evangelistic meeting at a campsite that has developed into a village of permanent houses. The Lord has raised up a Gypsy pastor and an assembly of around 100 believers there. This group is in the process of building a house of worship, which will be the first permanent church building erected by Gypsies in Italy. The team enjoyed the warm reception and kind hospitality of our Gypsy hosts. Please pray that this church plant will continue to grow and thrive spiritually.

Also please continue to pray for the team’s ministry, each team member’s growth in the Lord, the salvation of lost souls, and the Lord’s blessings on our hosts as they plan services and invite unbelievers to come under the sound of the Gospel. The Lord has truly been good to us this summer. The incredible opportunities we’ve had to minister could only have come from His hand.

Faithfully yours,

Janie McCauley
